Terms of service

1. Agreement
By creating an account or using the ScoutCity app, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. The Service
ScoutCity is a discovery platform that connects you with local vendors: restaurants, cafes, events, pharmacies, services, and lounges. It does not sell food, services, or event tickets itself. When you tap “Order via WhatsApp”, you transact directly with that vendor, who is responsible for the product, delivery, and payment. ScoutCity is not a party to that transaction.
3. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live) to create an account and must provide accurate information. If you are under 18, please review these terms with a parent or guardian. You are responsible for keeping your password secure. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Profile Details → Delete Account.
4. Alcohol & Age-Restricted Listings
Some listings (for example, lounges) may involve alcohol. ScoutCity does not sell or deliver alcohol. Any purchase is made directly with the licensed venue and only by persons of legal drinking age. You agree not to use these listings to purchase alcohol if you are not of legal age, and not to encourage minors to do so.
5. Payments & Refunds
This version of the app has no in-app payments. Payments for orders are settled directly between you and the vendor (for example, cash, transfer, or POS as agreed on WhatsApp). Vendor listing fees are paid on our website through Paystack and are generally non-refundable once the listing has been approved and published. If an order is incorrect or arrives damaged, contact the vendor directly, or email us at hello@scoutcity.co and we will help resolve it.
6. Referral Program
Referral rewards are paid when a referred vendor completes registration through your valid referral link. We may withhold rewards where fraud or self-referral is suspected, and may modify or end the referral program at any time.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the app for any illegal, fraudulent, misleading, or abusive purpose; not to scrape, overload, or attempt unauthorized access to our systems; and not to interfere with other users’ use of the app.
8. Moderation & Vendor Listings
Listings are reviewed before going live. We may reject, suspend, or remove any listing that violates these terms, provides inaccurate information, or promotes excessive drinking or the sale of alcohol to minors.
9. Intellectual Property
The ScoutCity name, logo, and app content belong to ScoutCity. You receive a personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the app for your own use.
10. Third-Party Services
The app integrates third-party services including WhatsApp (Meta), Supabase, OpenStreetMap/Nominatim, Sentry, and Paystack. Your use of those services is also governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.
11. Disclaimers & Liability
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent permitted by law, ScoutCity is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and is not liable for disputes between you and vendors; the vendor is responsible for their own goods and services.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the app if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will ask you to accept the revised Terms the next time you open the app. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection laws that apply to you.
